Barbara's Way Partners With Stanley Tools to Design and Market Home Products for Women

Barbara K brings 15-years of construction industry experience to a new line of quality, affordable tools designed especially for women

Oakville, On., April 19, 2010 – Barbara Kavovit, known in the DIY and home improvement world as Barbara K, is expanding her Barbara’s Way™ brand by partnering with industry leaders, including Stanley® to produce high-quality, affordable tools designed especially for women.

This new line of tools from Barbara’s Way and Stanley reflects the recent changes in the interests of women and their increasing involvement in DIY. Today, 60% of women in the U.S. consider themselves to be moderately or very handy. In fact, a 2009 study found that women make 90% of home improvement decisions, that more and more women are “tightening their tool belts” to tackle DIY projects at home, and that 64% of women are now more likely to tackle the work themselves than they were just two years ago. In Stanley’s own consumer research, 78% of women were interested in buying products designed to help them successfully complete their top home improvement projects including general maintenance, painting and remodeling.

In answer to this request, the new Stanley Barbara’s Way line of tools will be introduced at Walmart stores across Canada this May, including an assortment of hand tools priced from $5.98 to $12.98. Later this fall, storage boxes, multi-compartment organizers and soft storage bags will be added to the collection.

“I am thrilled to build upon this partnership with Stanley,” says Barbara K. “To help satisfy the demand of an underserved category for women in the home improvement sector is very gratifying. Now women can feel even more comfortable by using my products to improve their home.”

All tools in the Barbara's Way line have been ergonomically designed to comfortably fit a woman's hand size and strength. They've been created with fashionable purple handles and trims to also appeal to a woman's sense of style. And, for added confidence when tackling DIY projects, each tool comes with how-to-tips that detail the proper use of the tool to help consistently achieve success.

Use the Barbara's Way Multi-Bit Screwdriver to attach, tighten, repair and handle improvement projects around your home. Versatile and functional, this screwdriver comes with all the most commonly uses flat and Philips screw bits that can be stored inside the screwdriver case along with extra screws for future use. It has a comfortable purple ergonomically-designed grip and, although it is lightweight, it’s never light duty.

The Barbara’s Way Light Duty Stapler is lightweight with a high-quality comfort grip designed to make your work easier. It is easy to use for crafts, stapling to a wall or upholstery, and for other stapling jobs around the house.

Barbara’s Way Scissors are the perfect tool for many household projects whether you’re doing crafts, cutting fabric or boxes. These comfortable and ergonomically-designed scissors are essential tools to always have close at hand.

The Barbara’s Way Stud Sensor is a version of one of the tools that professionals find indispensable on the job. The Stud Sensor makes DIY projects easier by showing you exactly where to hang pictures, shelves, towel bars, hooks or other household hardware.

As with all Stanley brand tools, the materials and construction of Stanley® Barbara’s Way tools are crafted of the highest quality materials to resist corrosion, chipping and breaking.
